Angiography and angioplasty machines at the government-run Karachi Institute of Heart Disease (KIHD) have malfunctioned, forcing patients with heart disease to seek treatment at private hospitals.
Reportedly, angiography and angioplasty machines at the free cardiac hospital KIHD have been shut down for two months. Patients coming for angiography are referred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and Dr Ruth KM Pfau Civil Hospital. Many patients are forced to turn to private institutions.

The hospital administration refused to comment on the issue.
