KARACHI:

Pakistan People’s Party leader Sharjeel Memon was inducted into the Sindh cabinet on Friday as the provincial information minister, a role previously held by PPP’s Saeed Ghani.

A notification was issued regarding Memon's placement, while a second notification declared that Saeed Ghani would retain the labour ministry portfolio.

Sharjeel was sworn in by acting Sindh Governor Agha Siraj Durrani in the presence of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and other cabinet members.

The Sindh government had decided to induct former information minister Sharjeel Memon into the cabinet a day earlier, and de-notified transport minister Syed Awais Qadir Shah.

"Memon will take the oath of his ministry tomorrow. His portfolio is yet to be confirmed," an official of the services and general administration department had said.

The Sindh cabinet currently consists of 50 members including ministers, advisors and special assistants working in various departments, and with the induction of Memon, the size of the provincial cabinet will be 51.
