Section 144 imposed around PA building

Ban will remain in effect till April 17

The government of Punjab has imposed section 144 in and around Punjab Assembly building for two days to avoid any untoward incident on Friday.

According to a notification issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Punjab Syed Ali Murtaza, a ban has been imposed on entry of any unauthorised person, within five hundred meters of the Punjab Assembly building and gathering of five or more people in hundred meters of the Punjab Assembly building.

This ban will remain in effect starting from April 17.

According to the notification, there was a ban on any person other than the members of Punjab Assembly, notable political leaders (not exceeding forty) permitted under his hand by Deputy Commissioner Lahore, officials staff of provincial assembly of Punjab, authorised staff of the law Department not exceeding five persons, members of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and authorised media person with in five hundred meters of the Punjab Assembly building.

It is pertinent to mention here Syed Ali Murtaza was on Friday given the additional charge of ACS home along with his main assignment of ACS S&GAD.

The outgoing officer was instructed to report to establishment division.
