As dengue cases are being reported in different parts of the city, Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq has announced that an Anti-Dengue Day will be marked on Saturday (today) and a full-fledge awareness campaign will be launched.
A letter was issued to 26 government departments of Rawalpindi where cleaning of cemeteries, rubbish bins, plazas, markets, old broken buildings, weeds on the roofs of houses, removal of standing water, elimination of water leakage, drainage of rainwater in the plots and spraying in water ponds was ordered.
Orders have also been issued for immediate implementation of the anti-dengue micro plan which involves setting up of dengue wards in all hospitals of the city and complete eradication of dengue larvae. The Anti-Dengue Act was implemented across Punjab and will remain in force till November 30. Under the Act, cases against house owners can be registered for the removal of dengue larvae.
Anti-dengue walks and seminars will be organised by all the departments on Saturday. Orders have also been issued to all the departments to affix anti-dengue banners and stickers inside and outside the offices. An anti-dengue parade in all public and private schools will be held, with daily lectures on dengue to children.
All the departments have completed preparations to mark the Anti-Dengue Day. Deputy Commissioner Tahir Farooq and District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Faiza have also instructed all anti-dengue teams to visit each house in the union councils and destroy dengue larvae.
