Pakistan values its relations with Tunisia: Gen Qamar

Tunisia ambassador called on army chief and discussed matters of mutual interest, says ISPR

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa has said that Pakistan values its historic ties with Tunisia, the military said in a statement.

According to the Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, the army chief expressed these remarks during a meeting with Ambassador of Tunisia Borhene El Kamel at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, the military media wing said, matters of mutual interest and regional security and bilateral cooperation in various fields were discussed.

The COAS said that Pakistan values its brotherly and historic relations with Tunisia. "We earnestly look forward to enhance mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests," he added.

Both reiterated the desire to further enhance bilateral relations in all fields. The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan's efforts for regional stability and pledged to play his role for further improvement in diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

On Thursday, Ambassador of Hungary to Pakistan Bela Fazekas called General Qamar and discussed measures to enhance defence cooperation, besides reviewing regional security.

"His Excellency Mr Bela Fazekas, Hungarian ambassador, called on General Qamar Javed Bajwa, chief of army staff at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, today," the ISPR said.

It added that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest, overall regional situation and measures to enhance bilateral defence collaboration between both the countries were discussed.

The COAS, the ISPR added, said Pakistan valued its relations with Hungry, which are based on convergence on all important issues relating to regional peace security and stability.

Nearly a week ago, the Ambassador of Nepal to Pakistan called on the COAS and discussed regional security besides other issues.

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation as well as steps to improve bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed.

"The COAS reiterated that all regional countries need to work collectively for enduring peace and stability in the region," it added.
