The robbers wearing uniform of Rangers reportedly stopped the family for checking. Several similar incidents have been reported in the same area in recent years.

According to the victims, the family of a citizen named Ahmed landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport and left in his car but the gang members donned in law enforcement agency’s uniform, who were present at the airport, started chasing them.

They stopped the car and claimed to be government employees and had found the vehicle suspicious.

During the search of the luggage, the suspects took a large handbag from a woman and said they had to show it to an officer in another car. However, they escaped with the bag.

The family members said the bag contained gold jewellery worth millions of rupees, foreign and local currency, four passports, four mobile phones and other items.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot, registered a case on the complaint of the family and started an investigation.
