RAWALPINDI:

The decision to grant Murree the status of district and the decision to set up Kohsar Development Authority for the development of Kallar Syedan, Kahuta, Kotli Sattian, and Murree tehils have been revoked.

An official said that the decision has been taken due to the lack of funds.

The district administration sources said it was decided to divide the new district Murree and Kotli Sattian into two tehsils, and it also received administrative approval. A summary was sent to former Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar, however, it was not implemented due to the tumultuous political climate. Local PML-N leaders, the Punjab bureaucracy and finance department have opposed the creation of Murree as a new district, they added.

However, sources said that two more police stations will be established in Murree. A new police zone with an additional deputy commissioner, and an SP officer will be implemented.
