16 years on, Nishtar Park blast perpetrators yet to be arrested: Qadri

Says sacrifices of the martyrs of Eid Milad-u-Nabi would not be allowed to go in vain

Head of Pakistan Sunni Tehreek Muhammad Sarwat Ejaz Qadri has said that 16 years have passed, but the perpetrators of the Nishtar Park blast have yet to be arrested.

On April 11, 2006, a bombing in a Milad gathering at Nishtar Park resulted in the deaths of at least 49 people and injured around a hundred others.

Qadri said that sacrifices of the martyrs of Eid Milad-u-Nabi would not be allowed to go in vain.

He went on to say that "It has been 16 years since the Nishtar Park tragedy but the real characters have not been arrested yet".

He further said that Ulema and Sunni leaders sacrificed their lives for the security of the country and eradication of terrorism and conveyed the message to the world that one should not refrain from making any sacrifice for the glory of religion and security of the country.

"Courts and institutions did not bring justice to the families of martyrs of Nishtar Park tragedy," Qadri said.
