Islamabad police chief holds open katchehri

Shalimar police arrested a fake Pakistan Tehreek-Insaf MNA along with his guards and seized weapons during snap-checking.

The fake MNA and his guards were arrested during a PTI rally outside F-9 Park.

According to the police, on Sunday night, security was put on high alert in connection with various PTI rallies in the city. Police said that five people showed up from Margalla Road in a double-cabin vehicle in front of the F-9 Park gate. Four of them were armed and clad in security uniforms. They were going to attend the PTI protest rally along with weapons.

The police on-duty police stopped them who identified themselves as Omar Khayyam, Saeed Anwar, Azhar Abbas, Fateh Khan and Ehsanullah. The suspects furnished photocopies of licences of the weapons they possessed.

Omar Khayyam, who claimed to be an elected MNA from NA-27, Peshawar, told the police that he had come with his guards to participate in the rally. Later, it transpired that the accused were telling the lie. A case was registered against them and further investigation is under way.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Ahsan Younas held open katchehri to listen and solve the public grievances on Monday. He said that the open katchehri is being held in Central Police Office (CPO) Islamabad by the IGP in which people submit their issues.

 On Monday, the IGP listened to the grievances of the public and issues of police officials and marked their application to their relevant officers and directed them to resolve them on priority bases and on a given time frame. On a citizens complaint the IGP sought explanation from SDPO Shehzad Town for delaying the enquiry in the case.

 The IGP strictly directed all zonal officers to listen to public complaints and resolve them purely on merit. "No laxity would be tolerated in this regard" he maintained.

 During the khuli kachehri, Islamabad Police chief listened to the grievances of the citizens and marked their applications to the concerned officers for timely action on merit. He also directed them to send reports to his offices in the given time frame. Muhammad Ahsan Younas emphasized that Islamabad police would not leave any stone unturned to save the lives and property of the citizens adding that Islamabad police is taking many steps to facilitate public.
