WASA begins cleaning of drains before monsoon

Citizens urged to cooperate with the administration in clearing drains and eliminating them

Abbottabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Tariq Salam Marwat on Monday urged citizens to cooperate with the administration in clearing drains and eliminating them.

Marwat presided over the meeting where he also directed Water and Sanitation Agency(WASA) to complete the cleaning of drains as soon as possible to prevent losses during the upcoming monsoon season.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Muhammad Abid, District Reconciliation Committee Lieutenant General (retd) Ayaz Saleem Rana, Cantt Board Abbottabad CEO, Assistant Commissioner Abbottabad Muhammad Hassan Ahsan, Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Abbottabad, TMO Havelian, EXN Irrigation, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) representative, WASA Chief Sanitary Inspector and other officers attended the meeting.

DC Marwat welcomed the SNGPL's initiative to provide space for widening drains. He said cleaning of drainage system in Sethi Masjid, Ayub Medical Complex, Small Industries, Jhangi, Jab Pul, Bilal Town and other areas should be ensured on priority basis.

In another meeting, he said that the Dhamtour Bypass would help in resolving traffic problems in the city.
