Police recovered Kalashnikov rifles, pistols, ammunition from deceased suspects

Police claimed to have killed five armed bandits during a gunfight in the Chak Norang area.

A spokesman for Bahawalpur police said the five deceased were robbers who were wanted by the police of several districts in relation to cases of heinous crimes registered against them.

He said that the police of Noshahra Jadid police station were informed that the armed robbers had snatched a motorcycle from a person in the Mauza Jamrani Jadid area.

“A police team chased the robbers, after which an exchange of fire took place in the Chak Norang area, in which five bandits were killed," the spokesperson said, adding that the dead were identified as Siddique alias Dodo, Saeed alias Shido, Bashir Ahmad, Karim Bakhsh and Muhammad Rafeeq.

The police also recovered two Kalashnikov rifles, three pistols and ammunition from the possession of the deceased suspects. The bodies were shifted to a hospital morgue.

The police spokesman maintained that the same robbers had shot and injured police personnel and snatched their weapons in Lodhran district several days back. He added that the police had lodged cases against the deceased and started further legal proceedings regarding the incident.
