Dear Senators Kerry, Lugar and Berman

June 24, 2010

LAHORE: This is with reference to Anjum Rahman’s well written piece, “Dear Senators Kerry, Lugar and Berman” (June 22). Giving a child money once will make him happy for perhaps a day, or a month, but it will hold no value after that. Teaching a child to read may take more time, energy and effort but at the end of the day, the child will grow up to be an independent and brighter individual. Instead of doing people favours in the short-run, it is better to let people help themselves. Therefore, we need to learn to become self-sufficient and not depend on foreign aid for survival.

The problem is that they dont actually want this aid to help us, but to just keep us begging for more...just like drug pusher offers easy and cheap access to highly addictive drugs and once you're hooked starts raising prices the DCs continue to subjugate LDCs under the pretense of aid and what not
