LAHORE:

An additional district and sessions judge sought a reply from the FIA Cybercrime cell on a petition seeking a case against the advisor to the Prime Minister, Zulfi Bukhari and the PTI’s social media team for allegedly doctoring a video clip of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) vice president Maryam Nawaz.

Petitioner Chaudhry Ismael Gujjar contended that he approached the concerned quarter FIA cybercrime cell to register an FIR against Bukhari, but it was all in vain, adding that the officials received the application but did not confirm receipt by issuing a diary number.

Gujjar contended that the respondent department is duty bound under the law to register a case against the accused, but officials of the concerned department did not follow through on their obligation.

He approached the court to direct the FIA Cybercrime Wing to register FIR against the aforesaid accused, who obtained the video clip of Maryam Nawaz from the ongoing long march she along with party leaders and workers have taken out against inflation. The petitioner alleges the PTI’s social media team doctored it following their vested interests.
