Peshawar High Court (PHC) Justice Waqar Ahmad Khan on Monday said the biggest challenge being faced by the judiciary was that the justice system has not been improved after the rapid growth of population. While addressing a reception organised by the High Court Bar Association in Abbottabad, he said the rapid increase in population has not only affected the judiciary but also all other national institutions.
“Keeping in view the current situation, an amendment in the laws is the need of the time.” Justice Waqar maintained that their job was to provide justice in accordance with the law. “The bench and the bar are working together to achieve this goal,” he said, adding that the judiciary is facing some challenges which are causing delays in handling the cases. On the occasion, Justice Waqar also inaugurated the ATM machine installed by the Bank of Khyber at the HCBA and the website.
Earlier, HCBA General Secretary Advocate Sabir Tanoli also addressed the gathering, highlighting the connection and their work, he emphasised strengthening the bench and bar and resolving the pending issues. Apart from District Bar Association (DBA) Abbottabad, Haripur, Mansehra and members from various Tehsil Bar Associations, Vice Chairman of K-P Bar Council Muhammad Ali Khan Jadoon Advocate, members of Pakistan Bar Council, K-P Bar Council, senior and junior lawyers also graced the occasion.
