ANF foils ploy to smuggle drugs in parcels of prayer mats

At least 20kgs of ice seized from cargo booked for Australia at Jinnah International Airport

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized 30 kilogrammes of narcotics during three separate operations in the city. Smugglers tried to ship crystal meth in prayer mats, towels and women undergarments through parcels booked for Australia and Sri Lanka.

According to the spokesperson, ANF Intelligence conducted three major operations in Karachi. A total of 30kgs of methamphetamine popularly known by its street name, ice, was recovered during the operations. At least 20kgs of ice was seized from cargo booked for Australia at Jinnah International Airport.

The retrieved crystal ice was soaked and absorbed into the towels, then dried and packed as export samples. The cargo was booked by a resident of Karachi. According to the ANF spokesperson, in the third operation, 7kgs of ice was seized from a parcel sent to Australia by a courier company. Retrieved Ice was absorbed in 3 prayer rugs. T

he parcel was booked by Arshad Ali, a resident of Lahore. Further investigations have been initiated after seizing all found drugs. In another operation, 3kgs of ice was recovered from a parcel booked for Sri Lanka. The operation was carried out on a courier company located on Shahrae Faisal, Karachi. The drug was absorbed in women clothing and the parcel was booked in the name of a woman having address of Sheikhupura, Punjab.
