RAWALPINDI:

Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka on Friday indicted all six accused in the murder case of Pakistani-American woman Wajiha Swati.

The judge also issued notices to Morgah Police Station House Officer to produce all 16 witnesses on Saturday (today).

All the indicted accused have been ordered to be produced before the court from Adiala jail for today’s proceedings.

Rizwan Habib, the main accused and ex-husband of the victim, his father Hurriyatullah, employee Sultan, accomplices Zahida Bibi, Rasheed and Zahid Yousuf were indicted in the abduction-cum-murder case.

Habib allegedly tricked the woman into travelling to Pakistan to settle property issues. Once she landed in Pakistan in October 2021, he kidnapped her and murdered her with his accomplices before transporting the body to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to hide in a pit.

The Mograh police retrieved the body and later it was sent to the US for burial.

Earlier, Morgah police formally submitted challan in the murder case of US-Pakistani woman Wajiha Swati.

Morgah police have declared Rizwan Habib, the ex-husband of the victim, as the main culprit in the challan.

The prosecution has appealed that all the six accused should be declared guilty and sentenced to death.

The body of Wajiha Swati was flown to the United States from the Islamabad International Airport on January 8.

Wajiha Swati arrived in Pakistan on October 16, 2021, from the US via the United Kingdom to settle a property dispute with her ex-husband Rizwan Habib. According to police, Wajiha Swati was first abducted by her ex-husband and later killed.

Rizwan Habib remained involved part of the investigation for two months before police formally arrested him on December 22 last year.

After an autopsy, police obtained samples from the slain woman’s body for a DNA test. After confirmation of the DNA test, the body was handed over to heirs.
