Heirs claim victim was under treatment for psychological disorder

KARACHI:

A woman died of severe burn injuries at her home in the Khokhrapar area of Malir on Monday.

Nosheen Nadeem's husband and family members claim that she was mentally ill and alleged that she had doused petrol on herself and set herself to fire and died on the spot.

Her charred body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by Chippa ambulance service.

In this regard, Khokhrapar police station SHO Safdar Mashwani told The Express Tribune that the deceased was a mental patient and was under treatment for some time. The deceased was a mother of three children while her husband worked as a carpenter at a furniture factory.

Police said that the deceased along with her husband Nadeem had dropped their three children in school on Monday morning after which the husband went to his work and Nosheen returned home. As per statements of relatives, SHO Maswani said, Nosheen poured petrol on her body and burnt herself to death.
