BAJAUR:

Seven children were injured in a mysterious blast in Mamond, Bajaur tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Sunday.

District Police Officer (DPO) Bajaur Samad Khan told The Express Tribune that children collected branches of trees and lighted a fire in Tarkho, Mamond.

“They threw something in the fire which exploded injuring seven children,” he said, adding that the children probably threw an unexploded shell into the fire which exploded with a big bang.

The explosion caused widespread panic in the area which was previously considered a hub of militancy.

“We suspect that the children found an unexploded shell or grenade in the mountains and took it which was then thrown into the fire,” said the DPO.

All the injured children were shifted to the hospital where their condition is stated to be stable now.
