Identity parade of suspect in TV producer’s murder case held

Three eyewitnesses of incident identify suspect among 10 people

KARACHI:

The identity parade of the accused in the murder case of private TV producer Athar Mateen was held in the court of Central Judicial Magistrate in the Karachi City Court. Police lined up 10 dummies along with the accused in the parade.

Three eyewitnesses of the incident identified the accused among the dummies.

The court disposed of the police request regarding the statement under section 164 of the criminal procedure code and remarked that the request has become ineffective after the identification parade.

According to the investigation officer, accused Ashraf is involved in the murder of Athar Mateen.

Accomplice of the accused, Anwar, was killed in a police encounter in Qambar-Shahdadkot.  During the investigation, the accused has confessed his involvement in hundreds of incidents.
