After months of speculation, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan finally confirmed his comeback with the first teaser for his upcoming film, Pathaan. King Khan has been missing from the big screen for almost four years now and the Siddhart Anand directorial marks the end to the hiatus with a bang - literally. The action thriller also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles.
The Raees actor took to his Instagram to officially announce the film and its release date. He wrote, “I know it’s late, but remember the date! Pathaan time starts now. See you in the cinemas on 25th January 2023.”
The one-minute clip sees Padukone and Abraham introduce Khan as the orphaned, unnamed, patriot whose goal in life is to protect his country, India, at all costs. Soon after the powerful introduction, King Khan’s silhouette appears, a striking resemblance to his Don avatar, as he walks towards the screen in a white shirt and long hair.
Sharing that his companions named his character Pathaan in the film, he asks viewers to be patient to know the backstory. A familiar collaboration, Pathaan marks Padukone’s fourth film with Khan after Om Shanti Om, Chennai Express and Happy New Year.
Khan was last seen on the big screen in Aanand L Rai's 2018 directorial, Zero, alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma. In the past four years, the actor donned his production hat full time. In 2020, he produced two films under his Red Chillies Entertainment banner - Kaamyaab and ‘83. Other than that, the Dilwale star has also produced Bob Biswas and Love Hostel.
