The trailer for Hania Aamir and Ali Rehman Khan-starrer Parde Mein Rehne Do just dropped, and judging by what has been revealed so far, the film looks like a promising watch with an intriguing storyline. Following the struggles of a married couple, played by Hania and Ali, failing to get pregnant, and the societal pressures they face along the way, the Wajahat Rauf directorial appears to offer a hefty dose of drama with a fair bit of comedy sprinkled in.

The trailer opens with Hania’s character asserting to her husband that he would also have to get tested, with it being revealed as the trailer progresses that the test in question is related to fertility. Initially offended at the suggestion, Ali’s character, named Shani, is shown to go through a series of shady back alley “doctors” and crack prescriptions, before finally agreeing to his wife's demand.

The film also features Javed Sheikh as the head of the household, who constantly laments his lack of grandchildren, comparing the young couple to relatives who are on the verge of giving birth to their ninth kid. Later on in the trailer, the actor's character asserts that he will not let his bloodline end with his son.

What ensues is a dramatic separation between the couple, which then cuts to a wedding scene which sees Ali’s character as the groom, apparently leaving in the middle of the ceremony.

Produced by Shazia Wajahat, the film also features a glitzy dance number, snippets of which were provided in the trailer. Parde Mein Rehne Do will be released across cinemas in Pakistan on Eidul Fitr.

Dealing with the topic of impotency, which is often treated as taboo, the film appears to highlight important issues related to reproductive health, as well as the societal pressure faced by couples who fail to get pregnant.

The film also stars Munazza Arif, Hasan Raza, Sadia Faisal and Saifee Hasan. Wajahat Rauf’s previous directorial offerings include Lahore Se Aagay, Karachi Se Lahore and Challawa. Hania is currently starring in the drama serial Sang-e-Mah, while Ali is set to feature in the upcoming serial Badshah Begum alongside actor Zara Noor Abbas.
