Thousands of cases were adjourned on Monday as lawyers observed a strike against a decision for division-wise hearings, which they believe will create problems for them in appearing in the courts.
Lawyers locked the gates of the district courts and did not allow and the litigants, police and prisoner vans from entering the premises.
Lahore Bar Association (LBA) Secretary Amar Yasir said lawyers were not taken into confidence while taking the decision about marking the cases.

He said the move would create problems for the lawyers who would have to travel from one division to another for pleading their cases.
He said the strike would continue till the resolution of the matter.
On the other hand, a litigant, Muhammad Azeem, said he had arrived at the session court from a remote area for a murder case trial, but it was adjourned because of the strike.
