The actor reacted to dealing with trolls questioning her scenes with Sidhant Chaturvedi in 'Gehraiyaan'

Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone felt irked by some questions regarding intimate moments in her upcoming flick, Gehraiyaan. The Piku star was asked how she responds to questions and concerned comments about whether she took her husband and actor Ranveer Singh’s permission before doing the intimate scenes in the film. Her reaction to the bizarre question was on point. Slamming the trolls for questioning her bodily agency, she said, “Yuck! It just feels so stupid."

The Shakun Batra directorial Gehraiyaan also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday, and Dhairya Karwa. The film essentially explores the complexity of modern-day relationships and human minds while examining the theme of infidelity in today’s age and time. In the trailer and the songs released so far, there are scenes where Padukone and Chaturvedi are intimate with each other.

Contesting the intimate scenes in the film, the Padmaavat actor was asked about dealing with the inevitable trolling that invokes Singh as well. In a conversation with Bollywood Bubble, she dismissed the trolls saying the celebrity couple pays no heed to the comments. "It's stupid that we're even reacting to it. I think, for us, that's the most important thing. I don't read comments. I'm pretty certain that he doesn't as well. And, I think. Yuck! It just feels so stupid,” Padukone asserted clarifying that it shouldn’t even be necessary to dignify such regressive remarks with a response.

On the controversial subject of intimacy, Padukone also spoke about having an intimacy director on set that made things comfortable between her and Chaturvedi in an interview with PTI. "(Having an intimacy director) adds an element of security, comfort and trust. But there is so much more to the film than intimacy. The intimacy comes in when you are trying to be authentic with modern-day relationships. It's just a part of the film. A lot of time we shy away from showing what relationships in real life are or what they could be on screen."

Contrary to trolls and their intrusive comments, Padukone was rather overjoyed with her husband’s reaction to Gehraiyaan. She told them he is “extremely proud” of the final product and that he was especially proud of her performance in it. And the Simmba actor’s Instagram is proof of that.

After the trailer was released last month, Singh shared a screenshot of her wife, Padukone, from the trailer on Instagram and sang praises for the whole team behind the film’s production. He captioned the post, “Moody, sexy and intense! Domestic noir. Sign me up! All the favourites, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Pandey, Dhairya Kava and Naseer the Legend!”

Calling Padukone his “baby girl”, he further added, “and my baby girl looking like a Fazillion bux.” He also praised Bollywood’s ultimate rom-com producer Karan Johar, the mastermind behind the film.

Releasing next week on February 11 on the streaming platform Amazon Prime Videos, Gehraiyaan is jointly backed by Dharma Productions and Viacom18 Studios in association with Batra's Jouska Films.

Apart from that, Singh and Padukone dated for more than six years before they tied the knot in 2018. The adored duo has worked together in various successful hits such as Bajirao Mastani, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Padmaavat among others.

Their latest on-screen presence together was in Kabir Khan’s 83 where Singh essayed the titular role of former Indian captain Kapil Dev and Padukone played his on-screen wife, Romi Bhatia in the film. Apart from that, Singh has also closely worked with Chaturvedi in the super hit film, the Zoya Akhtar directorial Gully Boy.
