In a tragic incident, unidentified motorcyclists shot a priest dead and injured his companion in Peshawar on Sunday, sparking protests from the city’s religious minority.

The incident, which took place in the Chamkani Ring Road area, also sparked fears of targeted killings and terrorism resurging in the provincial capital. It is worth noting here that previously, police personnel, as well as some members of religious minorities, have been targeted in the city. Pastor William could not survive the attack while Patrick sustained injuries.

The outrage after the killing of the priest was massive on social media. Among others, actor Adnan Siddiqui shared his stance on the matter as well. Taking to Twitter, the Meray Paas Tum Ho star wrote, "All of us should feel ashamed of constant attack on minorities." Adding on, he shared, "This country belongs as much to them as to us. No religion preaches killing innocent. Won’t allow disruptive elements spoil interfaith harmony."
