Gujranwala rocked by string of murders, robberies

Criminals roam fearlessly while people live in a state of fear

Three people were killed in the last 20 days in Gujrawnwala while three others were injured in incidents of robbery.

The amount of money stolen was to the tune of Rs20 million.

Police arrested two alleged killers and busted three gangs and recovered 32 motorcycles and more than Rs4 million in cash from their possession.

The month of January was extremely dangerous for Gujranwala.

The robbers roamed so fearlessly that the people are living in a state of panic.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ajmal Khan used to sell peanuts and other dried fruits in Chowk in the jurisdiction of the Civil Lines police station and send money to his village Dirchitral.

The robbers looted him, along with his brother, Siddique, and opened fire on them on resistance due to which both were seriously injured. Ajmal died of his injuries.

Similarly, the robbers robbed a mobile shop near Sialkot Bypass area of the same police station, and a young man named Rana Imran in the adjoining shop raised an alarm on which the robbers opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.

Police were searching for the two robbers who shot dead a young man, Sajid, in the Defence Road area of Gurjakh police station. Apart from the incidents mentioned above, robbers had a field day, and they committed acts of robbery without any fear.

They shot and injured a person who had been returning after doing some shopping in the People's Colony.

Naseem and his son Saifullah were at their general store in Basharat Town area in the jurisdiction of Aymanabad Police Station when the robbers looted their shop, shot and injured the two men and escaped.

Rahwali area in the jurisdiction of the Kent police station and its surrounding area has allegedly become a hotbed of thieves and robbers.

In an incident, armed men robbed three shopkeepers of millions of rupees in a span of two hours. They also snatched rifles and mobile phones from a security guard.
