MULTAN:

A man staged a fake abduction of his daughter to take revenge from his neighbours. The false charge of kidnapping was exposed during initial police investigations.

Reportedly, Arshad, father of the four-year-old girl, called Setal Mari police on the helpline service and informed them that his fouryear-old daughter Anam Arshad had been kidnapped from Chah Lomriwala in New Zakaria Town.

Upon receiving the information, the police registered a case of abduction and started a search operation to find the abducted minor girl. The police recovered the missing girl from the house of Arshad’s friend.

A police official said that during the initial investigation, the behaviour of the girl’s father was found suspicious. With the help of modern information technology and other resources, the police rescued the four-year-old girl from the house of Asghar Kalro in the Nawabpur Road area of Gulgasht.

They also arrested the suspect Asghar. The suspect Asghar Kalro told police that Anam’s father had left his daughter at his home. He also told the police that Arshad staged his daughter’s abduction after a quarrel with his neighbours.

Asghar claimed that Arshad had intentions to implicate his neighbours in his daughter’s kidnapping case to take revenge from them.

A police official said that before the girl’s recovery, Arshad kept on blaming the neighbours for his daughter’s abduction but escaped from the scene as soon as the girl was recovered from his friend’s house. The police handed over the four-year-old girl to her mother.

The SP of Gulgasht said strict action would be taken against the suspect for providing false information to the police.

Multan City Police Officer Khurram Shehzad Haider congratulated the Gulgasht police team on timely recovery of the girl. Fraudulent registration of abduction cases is not uncommon in the province.

In August 2020, a man reportedly staged his own kidnapping to retrieve Rs100,000 from his family to pay off his debt. The police found the youth in Khanewal with the help of communication technology and handed him over to his family. D

uring interrogation, the man revealed that he was being harassed by three people who had given him a loan of Rs100,000. They were demanding payment of the money. To end his misery, Nadeem, son of Aslam, a resident of Noorpur, Satiana Road, staged his own kidnapping to force his family to pay off his loan. He left his home, switched off his mobile phone and bought a new SIM card from Lorry Ada.

Later, he used the new SIM card to call his family with, demanding ransom for his release from kidnappers. His brother Khurram Shehzad informed the Saddar police about the call from kidnappers seeking ransom for his release
