'Parizaad’s' finale to be screened in cinemas nationwide on Friday

Will he find it in himself to choose a place of love or will he abandon things again?

Entertainment Desk January 26, 2022

Popular TV serials being screened in cinemas seems to be a trend these days. What started with a successful screening of the last episode of drama Meray Pass Tum Ho starring Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan is now a growing trend with Sang-e-Mah’s first episode screened recently and now the blockbuster serial Parizaad’s much-awaited last episode comes to cinemas on Friday.

Previously scheduled to have 28 episodes, another episode was then announced to give complete closure to its audience last week. The last episode will now be aired on prime-time television on February 1, four days after the screening in cinemas.

The cast includes Nauman Ijaz, Syed Muhammad Ahmed, Urwa Hocane, Saboor Aly, Ushna Shah, Yumna Zaidi, Mashal Khan, Tipu Shah, Kiran Tabeer, Leyla Zuberi, Madiha Rizvi and Malik Hamid Raza.

Beautifully penned by Hashim Nadeem, the characters in Parizaad are multi-faceted and rarely stereotyped. From unveiling the escort culture in a high-fashioned rich stata to a queer person in a middle-class household, the serial managed to bring fresh conversations to the table.

Although a major problem that irked viewers was the darkening of Ahmed Ali Akbar’s skin tone for the titular role, the serial has an ever-growing fan base due to its out-of-the-box storyline and characters that gave us a much-needed break from run-of-the-mill family dramas and toxic love triangles.

Parizaad, an unconfident and self-doubting man who is loyal to his core, went through an emotional and financial rollercoaster through the show. From a poet to a mechanic to a personal chauffeur to a business tycoon— his acting was brilliantly reflective of his social status and personal struggles with accepting self-love and chasing his dreams. The second last episode revealed that he chose to leave everything behind for a nomadic life until he finds a place where he truly belongs.

Will Parizaad find it in himself to choose a place of love or will he abandon things again? Will he reunite with RJ Annie who has regained her eyesight now? Will money, Annie’s love, and power eventually force him to grow out of his childhood trauma and inferiority complex? According to the novel this serial is based on, the character dies but here’s hoping the serial does not end in his inner struggles suffocating him to death despite him achieving everything he ever wished for.

Here’s to hoping he accepts himself for the incredibly selfless, talented, loyal and caring person he is, and so does the world.
