Yasir Hussain and Ayesha Omar's biopic on Pakistan's most notorious serial killer Javed Iqbal finally has a new release date. The film Javed Iqbal: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer, which was previously slated to release on December 24, will now hit the cinemas on January 28.
Hussain, taking to social media, shared the poster of his upcoming venture with the new release date. "Javed Iqbal January 28, 2022. In cinemas near you. Don't come alone to watch it," the Jhooti actor shared.
In another post, he shared a picture with Omar, the leading lady of the film and talked about the chemistry between the two.
Sharing the picture was from their shooting days of Javed Iqbal, the Karachi Se Lahore actor penned, "I learned a lot from Ayesha Omar on the shoot of Javed Iqbal." Singing Omar's praises, Hussain added, "Thanks Ayesha for your care and great ideas. You guys will love the chemistry between a police officer and a criminal."
Speaking to The Express Tribune earlier, the Lahore Se Aagay actor had shared the makers have been awaiting a green signal for the film from the Islamabad censor board, which they still haven't received, hence the delay in the release of the film. "We couldn't really promote the film because we are still awaiting the film to be cleared by the Islamabad censor board," he told the publication.
"So, we have to delay the release till January, so we can do promotions in full-swing, followed by the film hitting the cinemas." Like Hussain, Omar too confirmed the news on social media. Taking to her Instagram stories, the Bulbulay star had commented, "Great decision, had to be done."
