Cheema apologises to ECP for offensive remarks

ECP has reserved its decision and adjourned the hearing till February 1

ISLAMABAD:

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday held hearing of the contempt notice against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNA Jamshed Iqbal Cheema.

During the hearing, Cheema prayed before the ECP that he has a high regard for the election commission. “I apologise if my words offended the ECP,” he said.

On the other hand, the ECP has reserved its decision on the notice and adjourned the hearing till February 1.

Earlier, two federal ministers belonging to PTI, including Fawad Chaudhry and Azam Swati, had also tendered apologies to the ECP over their offensive remarks.
