Sadiqabad police have arrested a man for allegedly killing his niece Road after she wished to marry of her own free will.

The 13-year-old girl, R* who was shot with a pistol and later died in hospital, was allegedly killed by her uncle for wishing to marry of her own free will, Sadiqabad police said.

According to the police, after shooting the niece, her uncle informed her father that his daughter had been shot and she was being transferred to the hospital.

According to the police, the murder weapon was also recovered from the killer.

On October 17, 2021, Hafeezullah, a resident of Kuri Road Dhok Pino told the police that while he was going to the shop when his brother Ataullah informed him that his daughter R* had been shot in the stomach by unknown assailants.

He told the police that by the time he reached the hospital, his daughter died due to critical injuries.

During the investigation, it transpired that the victim's marriage had been agreed to be solemnised with her uncle's son, but the victim wanted to marry according to her own free will.

The police grilled the victim's uncles and close relatives by obtaining their mobile phone data. During the investigation, Attaullah confessed to killing his niece.

According to the police, the accused had been arrested, and further investigation was under way.
