A man allegedly shot dead his wife and her nephew before fleeing from his home in Naseerabad of Pipri within the remits of Bin Qasim Town police station.
Upon receiving the report of the firing incident, police officers rushed to the spot and after taking the bodies of the deceased into custody, shifted them to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by ambulance for legal formalities.
The deceased was identified as Zahida Bibi wife of Mukhtiar, 40, and the man was identified as Ali Imran son of Qazi Rehman, 26.
In this regard, acting SHO Adib said that according to the initial information, the husband of the slain woman Mukhtiar Dilbar Jan and his brother Saeed Alam were allegedly involved in the incident.
Following the incident, both fled from the neighbourhood.
Police were probing it from various angles, though it seemed like a domestic dispute, neighbourhood sources said that the man committed the double murder under doubts that his wife had illicit relations with her real nephew.
SHO Abid said that the accused shot the woman dead inside the house then came out on the street and as soon as he saw Ali Imran, he empried the whole clip of 9mm pistol on the youth.
Police found more than seven spent shells of 9mm pistol at the crime scenes which were sent for forensic test, SHO Abid said.
He said it would be premature to say that it was an honour killing incident. Preliminary information indicates the incident occurred over a domestic dispute. However, further investigation was underway.
