The charred car of a cable operator, who was killed after being kidnapped from Gulistan-e-Jauhar about a week ago, was found from the central vehicle pool, commonly known as nazarat, within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station.

The Sharea Faisal Investigation Police found white Suzuki Cultus bearing registration No. AWA-794 which belonged to Farooq Ali, 32. The car was completely burnt whereas the police are trying to track down the culprits who allegedly kidnapped, killed and dumped the victim's body in the Gulitan-e-Jauhar nullah and left his burnt car in the nazarat.

The victim had also formed a social organisation.

Cloth merchant shot dead

A cloth merchant was shot dead by robbers in Saeedabad area of Baldia Town.

Police obtained footage from CCTV cameras around the scene. The victim had received a call from someone before the incident, the victim's father revealed.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Muhammad Junaid son of Muhammad Barkat, 35. Victim's father, Muhammad Barkat told The Express Tribune that Junaid that had no enmity with anyone and did not belong to any political party. The victim was a businessman. He also ran his own online clothing business.

The victim's father said that he had returned from a wedding with his wife on Wednesday night when Junaid got a call from someone saying that he would return in five minutes. He had just left home when street boys came and told him that Junaid had been shot. He was rushed to the hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead.

Residents of the area said that two unidentified boys had came on a motorcycle and the one in the back seat of the motorcycle fired a shot from a close range and fled.

SHO Madina Colony Inspector Salem Rind told the media that footage of CCTV cameras installed around the scene has been obtained. It is too early to say whether the incident was a motorcycle snatching or a targeted killing.
