‘Wanted criminal’ killed in police encounter

A constable was injured in exchange of fire

SHEIKHUPURA:

A suspect was killed while a police constable was injured in a police encounter during a raid in a nearby village of Sheikhupura on Monday.

The other police personnel saved their lives by lying on the ground while one of the suspects wanted accomplices was injured in exchange of fire.

The injured suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital but he succumbed to his wounds.

Reportedly, police personnel conducted a raid within the limits of Sadar Sheikhupura in order to arrest the suspects wanted in several cases. Constable Abu Sufiyan was injured in the raid.

A police official said that the police also fired back while the accused ran away into the nearby fields.

The official said that one of the suspects identified as Muhammad Nadeem, a resident of Lalpur Chowk Jhang Road Faisalabad, was severely injured by the firing of his accomplice and died on his way to hospital.

He said the other suspects managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness while medical aid was provided to the injured constable.

DPO Sheikhupura Ahsan Saifullah, the deceased suspect Nadeem, who was shot dead by his comrades, was wanted by Ferozewala police and other police stations in various crime cases.

On the orders of RPO Shiekhupura Region Mirza Farhan Baig, all medical facilities are being provided to Constable Sufiyan who was injured in the firing.
