All set for start of work on Kachehri Chowk double underpass

Preparations have been completed to start work on the double underpass project at Kachehri Chowk. The work on the mega project will start as soon as the ongoing spell of rain come to an end.

The Frontier Works Organisation will complete the mega double underpass project at a total cost is Rs 3.80 billion. This project will be completed in 18 months.

It is the only busiest intersection in Rawalpindi for the VVIP movement. This is also the busiest intersection for being in close proximity to the GHQ.

According to data, more than 300,000 vehicles pass through this busiest road daily. This intersection remains busy with traffic from morning till late at night.

Due to the VVIP movement, motorists, transports and citizens remain stuck in traffic.

Rawalpindi Development Authority Tariq Murtaza said the chowk will be made signal-free.

He said that the Kachehri Chowk project’s two-story flyover is a unique design, and will be the first of its kind in Pakistan

The Kacheri Chowk underpass will be constructed with the latest technology. The project will also be Rawalpindi’s only double underpass, officials said.

According to the officials, with the construction of the underpass, traffic will flow with ease on the route, which often remains busy with VVIP movement.
