While shedding light on a much-debated "deal" between former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and the establishment, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah on Thursday dismissed any possibility of such a deal, saying his supreme leader is "not ready for any deal".

The remarks came a day after DG ISPR Major General Babar Iftikhar rubbished claims of a possible deal with the three-time ex-premier, who is currently in London.

“I will only say this is baseless. If anyone is talking about a deal, please ask them who is doing the deal. Where is the evidence of such a deal? There is no such thing," he added.

The DG ISPR had also advised the media to keep the “establishment” out of politics and instead focus on health, education and other such issues.

"It is a good thing if the institutions remain impartial but we are not part of any discussion about a deal with any institution," Rana said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.

He categorically said that Nawaz is "not ready to make any deal and has also refrained the party workers from meeting any representative of the 'establishment'.

The PML-N leader denied that Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif met anyone in Rawalpindi, saying that "all of them" met during a briefing in parliament and such instance cannot be called a meeting.

"Shehbaz Sharif is not part of any conspiracy or deal... he never was nor is... but he has his own opinion that political parties and country's institutions should not be at a loggerhead and all must move forward for the progress of Pakistan."

He said that at times his opinion is not in line with the party's position but he always prioritises the party's position over his own opinion.

Talking about the return of Nawaz Sharif to the country, he said that if he comes back and is imprisoned then the party would lose his leadership.

"PML-N's prime minister is Nawaz Sharif... he can come [to Pakistan] whenever he likes and no one can stop him," he added.

On PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz's leaked audio clip, Rana claimed that it was shared on social media by an "intelligence agency". However, he added, it did not have any objectionable thing.

"It [audio clip] was shared the same day the scrutiny committee [on alleged PTI foreign funding] presented its report... two people were having a private conversation and recording it was a crime," he added.

The PML-N leader said that Prime Minister Imran Khan's corruption has been exposed to the nation and the destruction the country's economy has been facing for the past three-and-a-half years was the evidence of it.

"The government 'ATMs' had bankrupted the people... they are looting people and forming a mafia in the country... even those who selected such incompetent people should apologise to the nation," he added.
