Education sector to induct over 11,000 staff

Employees will help in handling office matters at schools

The Department of Education has decided to recruit 11,765 Class-IV employees in educational institutions across the province.

This will help in dealing with official matters in schools and maintenance of government schools.

In a letter issued by the section officer, the chief executive officers of the district education authorities across the province -- DPI, PCTB, NMST, PEC and GTFCLC chiefs -- had been told that the Punjab government had approved 11,765 posts in government schools to fill the gap of Class-IV under which the recruitment process would start soon.

Recruitment of Class IV employees would also help maintain schools, including handling of office matters in schools.

According to the education department sources, 325 posts will be filled in Faisalabad district, 154 in Jhang district, 166 in Chiniot district, and 344 in Toba Tek Singh district. In Vehari 967, Sialkot 345, Sheikhupura 148, Sargodha 405, Sahiwal 413, Attock 475, Bahawalnagar 780, DG Khan 36, Gujranwala 474, Gujrat 180, Hafizabad 348, Jhelum 133, Kasur 190, Khanewal 214, Khushab 145, Lahore 28, Lodhran 335, Muzaffargarh 180, Mianwali 216, Multan 340, Nankana Sahib 94, Narwal 264, Okara 223, Pakpattan 275, Rahim Yar Khan 974, Rajanpur 611 and Rawalpindi 280.

The vacant seats of class IV in the institutions affiliated with the education department would also be filled. The Department of Education will complete the recruitment process under the Contract Policy 2004.

Meanwhile, a report published in November last year said that around 100,000 posts of teachers were vacant in 50,000 public sector schools in Punjab.

The shortage of staff was affecting the academic activities in government schools. Thousands of posts of headmasters and class teachers were lying vacant, and many schools even did not have science teachers for labs.
