Parliamentary secretary for creation of industrial estate

Says it will generate jobs, improve regional exports

ISLAMABAD:

Establishment of a new industrial estate in Islamabad will boost industrialisation and investment, generate more jobs and improve regional exports, said Parliamentary Secretary of Ministry of Water Resources Saleh Muhammad Khan Swati.

Interacting with the business community at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Tuesday, he promised full cooperation from the government in this regard.

Swati supported businessmen’s proposals of tax collection at a single point and on low rates for broadening of tax base and improvement in revenue collection.

He also briefed the business community about the initiatives introduced by the Ministry of Water Resources for conservation of water to turn Pakistan into a water-efficient nation.

Speaking during the meeting, ICCI President Muhammad Shakeel Munir highlighted the importance of new industrial estate in the federal capital and briefed Swati on the efforts made by the chamber to materialise this scheme.

The government should cooperate in the establishment of this important project as it will benefits the economy in multiple ways, he said.

“High inflation is placing immense burden on the common man and squeezing the purchasing power of consumers,” he added. “Price hikes will lead to further slowdown in business activities.”

He urged the government to take immediate measures to control inflation.

The chamber president also requested the State Bank of Pakistan to rationalise policy rate arguing that high interest rate had made loans costlier.
