Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Monday that expansion of the scope of the Koh-e-Suleman Development Authority should be studied.
Chairing a meeting to review the progress on development schemes in the Koh-e-Suleman area, he said public welfare schemes under the district development package in Dera Ghazi Khan should be completed within the timeframe.
He issued directions to finalise the master plans of the THQ hospital and tehsil complex without delay, adding that land should also be earmarked for lawyers' chambers.
Soil and water quality testing for the purpose should be completed without delay, he added. He said expansion of the scope of the development authority should be studied and the public welfare schemes should be completed in time.
The chief minister said the district development package was a historic step to ensure holistic development and inclusive growth in the province.
He said the Sorra Dam would benefit the people of the area by providing water for irrigation to boost agriculture. The project had been designed to meet the needs of the locals, he stated.
He said no past government had thought of storing hill torrents' water and resources were wasted by starting exhibitory projects while ignoring the real needs of the people.
The past rulers compounded the difficulties faced by of the people instead of healing their wounds, he concluded.
Senior Member of Board of Rvenue Babar Hayat Tarar, the chief executive officer of the Urban Unit and other officials attended the meeting, while the commissioner and DC of DG Khan participated through video link.
The chief minister also issued a statement accusing the opposition of pursuing an agenda contrary to the national interest. He alleged that the opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) did not like national development.
He said the people needed development and prosperity instead of anarchy.
“However, the opposition has disappointed the people on every national issue. In fact, the opposition has wasted its energy on lip service,” he said and emphasised that there was no room for the politics of anarchy.
“Those engaged in politics of chaos should realize facts as the people are fully aware of their dual nature,” he said.
The CM advised the opposition to understand that people could not be served with hollow statements. “One has to stand with the masses to serve the people,” he emphasised. The PTI leadership was standing with the people firmly and would continue to do so, he added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow over the reported death of several members of a family in a road accident near Multan. He extended sympathies to the bereaved heirs and sought a report about the incident from the regional police officer of Multan.
The chief minister said legal action should be initiated against the negligent driver and the injured should be provided the best possible medical care.
