IO says sister provoked suspect to kill his brother-in-law

KARACHI:

The court of administrative judge anti-terrorism handed over the suspects arrested in the murder case of Sindh Bar Council office secretary Irfan Mehar to CTD on physical remand and sought a progress report at the next hearing.

The case was heard before the Karachi-based Anti-Terrorism Administrative Court. CTD officials produced the two arrested suspects in the court. The police presented the report of preliminary investigation of the suspects in the court. The suspects include Ghulam Akbar and Wajid Hussain.

The investigation officer said that the accused Akbar, while giving a statement, said that his sister Sahibzadi had provoked him to kill his brother-in-law. After the incident, the motorcycle was kept with friend Abid Hussain while Zulfiqar has the weapon used in the murder.

The police added Sahibzadi, the deceased's wife, to the list of suspects for plotting to carry out assassination and Zulfiqar for hiding evidence.

The IO requested for a 14-day physical remand of the suspects for their CRO and arrest of fugitive suspects. The court remanded both the suspects to the CTD authorities on a 10-day physical remand.

The court ordered the suspects should be produced on December 23 and also sought a progress report at the next hearing.

According to police, the suspects had shot dead Mehar on December 1 in Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
