Police claimed to have arrested a man on Friday who had been filming and blackmailing a woman after luring her on the promise of marrying her in the Nawankot area.

Police said the suspect, identified as Ali Javed, extorted Rs40 million and 583 grams of gold from the woman.

On December 2, Javed went to Lahore to collect Rs1 million from the woman. Later, he sent the videos to her uncle. Police said the suspect had been blackmailing the victim for the past seven years.

The victim is a married woman. The suspect exploited the differences in her soured marriage and convinced her to get a divorce. He developed relationships with her over promises of marriage, the victim complained before the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had also been running a fake jewellery business, and had for the past seven years been making obscene videos of women, extorting money from them and abusing them.

The suspect is a father of two daughters. Police have handed him over to the investigation wing of the law enforcement agency. Tahir, a labourer and father of the victim, used to drop his son at his neighbour Ayub’s place when leaving for work. In the evening when he returned home, his son told him that the suspect Ayub had sexually assaulted him.He informed the police. Police have arrested the suspect.

Earlier this week, a man was accused of sexually assaulting a woman.

The incident was reported in Punjab’s Kharianwala Town.

The complainant told the police that she went to the Allied Hospital to buy medicine with her 22-year-old daughter. She added that a man named Nabil Ahmed came to her and said he will bring her medicine from a medical store.
