‘Rs1.3b Ammar Chowk project to be completed by Dec 31’

Project has undergone significant changes

Work on the Ammar Chowk project is finally in the final stage of completion.

Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Tariq Mehmood Murtaza said that construction work for Ammar Chowk will be completed by December 31.

The RDA chairman said that the Ammar Chowk project will now be completed at Rs1.3 billion. while the Kachehri Chowk project will cost Rs3.8 billion and the Defence Chowk Rs2.1 billion. He said that construction work on a two-storey flyover at the Kachehri Chowk will begin at the beginning of 2022. After this, development work on the Defence Chowk project will also be started.

He said that the Kachehri Chowk project’s two-story flyover is a unique design, and will be the first of its kind in Pakistan. He said that the Ammar Chowk project was pending for the last 12 years.

He said that in view of a growing population and traffic congestion, the project has undergone significant changes.

These include the addition of twin underpasses, undergrounding of HT and LT cables, and the addition of new service lines and a reinforced earth panel. He said that steps have also been taken to make the surrounding area clean and green.
