Monsoon: 10-day rain spell on the way

Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecasted a 10-day spell starting from August 21.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecasted a 10-day spell starting from August 21. An official of the district administration said they had put all the concerned departments on alert. All arrangements made prior to the start of monsoon season, particularly Nullah Leh are being revisited and special rescues teams have been put on alert in view of the looming threat of floods in the low-lying areas of Rawalpindi. All concerned departments of Rawal and Pothohar Towns of Rawalpindi city, Police, City Administration, WASA, Civil Defence, Rescue 1122 and Tehsil Municipal Administrations have been cautioned. The residents of as many as 300 dangerous buildings have also been issued notices to vacate. Ten relief centres are being equipped in the city.
