RAWALPINDI:

Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) Rao Sardar Ali has issued a seven-point guideline for better policing and improving the culture of police stations.

The Punjab police chief has issued a letter regarding the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to additional IGs, regional, district and city police officers with the instruction to improve the complaint management system by noting the credentials of every complainant visiting the police stations.

It has also been instructed to provide the e-tag, timeline, and mobile phone number of the inquiry officer to the complainant along with a text message of the sections included in the case.

Besides this, the police have been told to update the record on CMS on the entry of every 15 complaints.

An affidavit from the complainant on financial documents has also been declared mandatory under new guidelines.

The police IG has also directed to call the respondents in the case only when the investigation officer (IO) is present at the police station.

Read All police stations to follow SOPs

Along with this, the investigation schedule must be displayed at the entrance of the police station and website.

The guideline regarding the arrest of the suspects said the IO must fill a form before conducting a raid that all preparations are completed.

It will be mandatory for the IO to confirm while the DSP will approve the form if the police are to conduct a raid to arrest the suspects involved in terrorism or murder cases.

A custody form will be filled in case of arrest of the suspect and the bail will only be granted in cognizable crimes.
