Two ‘Haqiqi activists’ arrested

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of the Sindh police arrested from Orangi town two men suspected to be involved in target killings in the city.

SSP CID Fayyaz Khan received a tip from anonymous sources that two people suspected to be involved in target killings were hiding in Orangi town, sector 11 ½, Gulshan-e-Bahar within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar Police Station. A team of police officials carried out a raid at the specified place and arrested Muhammad Hamid, also known as Piya, and Aslam Zafar, also known as Ganja.

Two TT pistols and a car were also seized from them. Khan said that the accused and their accomplices were involved in the murder of Ajmal Moin, the sector in charge of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in Shah Faisal Colony on June 6, 2009. A case had been registered at Shah Faisal Police Station. The accused had also allegedly shot dead Muhammad bin Saleem Baqireen, a unit in charge of MQM, on February 2, 1995.

Eleven cases, including charges for murder, attempted murder, police encounter and kidnapping for ransom, have been registered at the Shah Faisal Police Station against the accused men. Cases are also registered in three other police stations against them.

Khan said that the accused belong to the Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H) and further investigation is underway.
