PUBG MOBILE, the wildly popular and co-developed mobile game from Lightspeed and Quantum Studios of Tencent Games and KRAFTON, has been selected as one of eight games for the official esports program at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. This is the first time PUBG MOBILE has been included as an event in the Asian Games. The Games will take place September 10th to September 25th, 2022, with competitors playing on the PUBG MOBILE Asian Games Version for the opportunity to win an Asiad gold medal.

The event will provide the best players in Asia the opportunity to showcase their skills on a global stage. A total of 24 medals can be earned at the 2022 Asian Games under esports category. Each title has a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal.

The Asian Games is a multi-sport event that’s held every four years, in which Asia’s best athletes compete. It is considered the second-largest event of its kind after the Olympics by the International Olympic Committee. 2018 marked the first time esports was included as a demonstration sport in the Asian Games.

As of 2020, esports will be part of the official program and a medal event. As part of the 19th Asian Games, PUBG MOBILE will be playing alongside 7 other games: Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, DOTA 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA SPORTS FIFA soccer games, Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V.

A world leader in esports, PUBG MOBILE's esports circuit has seen phenomenal growth in 2021, with 14 new leagues and a prize pool of USD 15,000,000; the largest ever prize pool in mobile esports history. With over 1 billion downloads worldwide, PUBG Mobile's inclusion in the 2022 Asian Games shows its continued growth as one of the world's most popular mobile esports games.

PUBG MOBILE

PUBG MOBILE is based on PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, the phenomenon that swept the interactive entertainment industry by storm in 2017. Up to 100 players parachute onto a remote island to battle in a winner-takes-all showdown. Each player must seek out and scavenge their own weapons, vehicles, and supplies, and defeat every other player on a visually and tactically rich battleground that forces players into a shrinking area.
