FDE extends current academic year

Educational institutions to open in first week of December

ISLAMABAD:

The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has announced to extend the current academic year till July 31 and start the new academic year from August 2022.

According to a notification issued on Saturday, mid-term examinations in federal government educational institutions will start in the first week of December. Final examinations till the 8th grade will be held in May 2022.

The decision was taken in a conference held on September 13 in which all provincial educational ministers took part. It was decided that the academic year 2022 will be till July while the new academic year will start from August 2022.

Deputy Director for Academics for the Federal Directorate of Education Rifat Jabeen has issued a formal notification according to which mid-term exams will be taken from 50 per cent of the syllabus in December while assessment for 25 per cent of the remaining syllabus will be held in monthly exams to be held in January and February.

The final examinations of the 9th to 12th classes will be as per the board schedule.The teachers working in federal educational institutions have urged the authorities to give more time for mid-term exams so that the students seeking admissions in first year and BS programmes can have more of their syllabus covered by their teachers.
