AC testifies in couple harassment case

Trial court summons more witnesses

ISLAMABAD:

Assistant Commissioner Dr Sania Hameed recorded her statement during the hearing of a case of sexual assault and harassment of a boy and a girl within the limits of the Golra Police Station.

Additional Sessions Islamabad Judge Ata Rabbani heard the case on Thursday.

A total of 11 witnesses have so far testified and recorded their statements in the case. The lawyers of the suspects have completed the cross-examinations of seven witnesses.

The lawyers of the five accused completed cross-examination of the statement of Assistant Commissioner Dr Sania Hameed. The lawyers of the other accused will cross-examine them at the next hearing.

During the recording of the statement, in response to various questions of Malik Akhlaq Awan, lawyer of accused Farhan Shaheen, the assistant commissioner said that “I am a magistrate of Golra Police Station and I had taken the statement of the girl after verifying everything.

The suspect’s lawyer asked why the name of his client Farhan Shaheen had not been written in the statement of the victim girl. To this, the assistant commissioner said that she jotted down the names of those suspects whose names the girl could remember.
