National Highways & Motorway Police launched a crackdown against vehicles with illegal number plates at M-4 Motorway on Friday.
During the action, all vehicles are being checked, illegal number plates removed and heavy fines imposed on the owners.
M-4 Police Sector Commander Faisal Akram said the campaign had been launched on the instructions of higher officials to help curb crimes. Vehicles with illegal and fancy registration number plates are being barred from coming onto the motorways to ensure implementation of the rules.
He instructed all officers to take strict action against vehicles with illegal number plates and remove them from the road immediately.
The official said the travellers could call the helpline number 130 in case of any need for help or complaint on the motorways and highways.
