RAWALPINDI:

A day-old newborn has been abducted from the Holy Family Hospital (HFH), with the kidnapper switching the baby with a doll in his crib.

The police and the hospital management have started examining the CCTV footage to trace the suspect.

HFH Medical Superintendent Dr Shazia Zaib ordered the closure of the entry and exit points of the hospital and informed the police as soon as she was apprised of the abduction.

A five-member investigation committee headed by Assistant Medical Superintendent Admin Dr Akhtar has been constituted to probe the matter.

Dr Shazia said that she understood the pain of the parents as she was a mother herself and said that she was hopeful that the child will be recovered soon.

The MS has suspended six employees on duty while recommending disciplinary action against the nurses.

The mother of the child said she had fed him at 9 am and left him in the nursery. The police have launched an investigation into the abduction.
