UoP holds youth summit at Bara Gali Campus

Such activities will continue in the future as well and students of the UoP will bring positive changes

A four-day youth summit was organized for the students of University of Peshawar (UoP) jointly by Community Resilience Activity-North and Regional Department of Criminology, UoP and Directorate of Youth Affairs at Bara Gali campus of the university.

The participating students had been sent to the conflict hit areas in the merged districts where they interacted with the local youth in Khyber, Kurram, North Waziristan and Orakzai. This group of tribal youth is considered especially vulnerable to the ‘radicalization’ by the local militants and ultra conservative groups.

At the conclusion of this trip a Regional Youth Summit of Youth Empowerment Leadership & Development (YELD) Program was organized in Bara Gali Campus.

At the concluding session Assistan Professor Social Work Department, Dr Muhammad Ibrar thanked the students, faculty members and all the guest for attending the event.

He added that such activities will continue in the future as well and students of the UoP will bring positive changes in the communities.

He said that the students will not only take experience from this activity but they will play their role in the de-radicalization of society too. Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Industries, Abdul Karim Khan, Chairman Criminology Department Professor Dr Basharat Hussain, Dean Social Science Department UoP also attended the summit.
